New Abuja Liaison Office for commissioning soon
The new multi-million naira Abuja Liaison Office complex of the University of Ilorin is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned soon.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director, Independent Services (Nigeria) Limited, the project contractors, Alhaji Ibrahim Mutairu, in a chat with Unilorin Bulletin in Abuja recently shortly after conducting members of the University Governing Council and management team round the project located at Gudu District of the Federal Capital Territory.
While conducting the Council members, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Council, Dr. Abdullah Jibril Oyekan (MFR), and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), round the imposing complex, the contractor gave an assurance that the job would be completed and delivered to the University by the end of July this year.
Built on a 1,849.12 square metre land, the complex, which will serve both as office accommodation and guest house, has facilities such as 10 offices, one conference room, one restaurant, three suites, 18 single rooms, one lounge, one laundry, three kitchens/kitchenettes, nine general/service toilets, and an expansive parking lot.
Also briefing the Council members during the facility tour of the complex, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali, disclosed that the project was funded entirely from the internally generated revenue purse of the University.
Prof. Ambali said that apart from serving as the administrative outpost of the University in the Federal Capital Territory, the complex also has facilities for lodging purposes that would serve as another revenue earning window for the University.
In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Council, Dr. Oyekan, expressed his delight over the conception and construction of the liaison office/guest house, saying it is a monument to Prof. Ambali’s visionary leadership.
The Council Chairman commended the project contractor for a job well done and promptness of completion.
Other Council members on the project facility tour included Dr. Samuel Adedayo, Chief Ogban Ebock, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Mustafa, Engr. Issah Bello, Prof. J. K. Joseph, Prof. A. Sani, Prof. A. S. Abdussalam, Prof. A. A. Adeoye, Prof. A. B. O. Omotoso, Prof. S. O. Salami, Prof. W. O. Egbewole, and Mr. Odejinmi Adebayo Olusanjo.
Also on the tour were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. N. Y. S. Ijaiya; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. A. Y. Abdulkareem; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (RTI), Prof. G. A. Olatunji; the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi; the University Librarian, Dr. Joseph Omoniyi; the Deputy Bursar, Mr. Munir Dere; and the Deputy Registrar, Council Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Adisa.
